Default RPM's high on 92 accord

Just purchased a 92 accord lx, 4 cyl., auto transmission. At 65 MPH the rpms run at about 2,900 to 3,000? Is this normal for an accord? The car seems to run fine, I just thought it should be closer to 2,100 or so.

This is correct for 90 Accord and probably same for 90-93 models. My 94 runs a bit lower rpm (2600 or so) at 60-65 mph.

good luck

also, the temp gauge runs just above the cold when on the highway and mid range when in town driving. could this be a thermostat problem.. i was thinking of having the cooling system flushed and new thermostat installed if you think this may be an issue.

thanks texashonda!

A new thermostat is indicated. Temp should be same on street or highway. OEM Honda thermostat is best for quick warm up and outstanding temperature control.

good luck
