rpms out of wack
i have a 1991 Honda accord Lx. i cleaned my engine today and pressure washed the engine to get it all off, but now my car is not running right. i let the engine dry for about ten minutes before i went home. my car worked fine at first, but then half way home it started eccelerating randomly. and now when i start it up, it starts fine, but after a couple seconds, the RPMs drop as if it is going to die, then the RPMs shoot back up. then drops down again. it keeps doing this. i don't know what is wrong and i don't know what to check. i already checked to see if there was water in the spark plugs, but there was none. i need help fixing this problem.
lesson learned, dont use a pressure washer on your engine.
It forces water in areas where it shouldnt be. Some of the major issue areas are electronics and inside the engine. I would change your oil and check for water in your coolant too just as a precaution.
Also you need to let this dry for a while. Unfortunately the water you used has minerals in it which will leave deposits on electronics. This can cause immediate or delayed failure. Open up your fuse box, distributor and any other electronic device and let it sit for at least a day in a relatively warm area. Reassemble and let us know what came of it.

you could always borrow the wife's/girl friends hair dryer to speed things up......
Just don't say anything.
Along with the areas the other members have talked about.....I'd be sure of the IACV and FITV connectors.
