Shifter Knob Very Hard to Depress...

I am so far; a happy new owner of a very clean 2004 Accord Coupe w/ V6 Automatic... I must say though: That I'm instantly dismayed to learn here: That my model is prone to detrimental Tranny Failure's
...Well with a healthy reading Car Fax Report, and no real driving/shifting issues to speak of: All I can do now I guess, is Service my Tranny every (what?) 3000 miles??? ...One Issue (and I'm sure it's probably a well known one?) is that the Automatic Shifter Handel (Thumb Activated Button) gets almost impossible to depress when the car has warmed up and is extremely hard to move into park and sliding out of park for that matter... My guess: is that it's probably a stretched cable of some sort? ...Can someone enlighten me? ...Being new to this sight: I did try to perform a few searches before posting, but don't know yet how to navigate my way around here to well... Any reply's to this post will be greatly appreciated, so Thank You in advance for reading!

Since it's not really about wheels & tires, I'll move this over to General Tech where more people will read it.
For me, it's not obvious to be a cable problem. Just as likely to be sticking mechanism in the shifter handle. So hopefully someone with experience on that year might chime in with hints on taking the console apart to get to the shift lever & look around.

As far as I know, Honda corrected most of the trans failures with the 2003 models, but some of the '03s still had some problems (mostly the earlier models). The '04s shouldn't have any problems, and if they do they should be minor.
As for doing drain and fills on the trans, keep the changes at every 30K and you should be fine.
