Default Shifting problems

I got home tonight and couldn't shift into park, reverse, or drive 1 and 2. What could be the cause? I did try the shift lock release next to the shifter with no success. In retrospect, it was sticking a little bit at nuetral when I'd shift into park.

Do the brake lights turn on when you press the brake pedal?

The question about the brake lights is because the shifter is interlocked with the brakes. Regardless of needing calipers, the signal from the brake pedal to the lights also tells the shift-lock solenoid to release. But I guess the shift-lock release should have allowed it to shift.

So how about mechanical issues around the shift lever? I'd remove the console panels around there so you can see the shift-lever pivot and look for something mechanical that gets in the way of moving the lever.

Below is a video on how to release the shift lock manually. Just want to make sure you are doing that properly.

Please have someone press the brake pedal and look to see if the rear brake lights turn on. If this is your issue the repair is fairly easy.

It was in fact the shifter. I took the cover off and the button wasn't making contact with the plunger. Thank you.for the suggestions.
