Shuddering/misfire
Hi! My first post so i hope i dont screw this up. I have -95 Accord EX vtec 4cyl and just replaced distr. cap, rotor and plugs (oem). My questions is i have a shutter or misfire when going thru the gears on light to moderate accelaration i would describe it as water in the distr.cap but it always been dry. It does not happen when i accelarate harder only light to moderate accel. By the way it's automatic. Hopefully someone has some idea were to look. I did search and came close but not completely. Thanks for any input. F1
the issue was there before i changed parts figuring it would be something simple like that. I will do the EGR cleaning this weekend according to DIY article. I hope that takes care of it if not i will have the dealer look at it. Thanks for getting bck guys. f1swede
I would suggest a cylinder balance test where you eliminate each cylinder under load and see how much each contributes. You brake torque(In gear with foot on brake) the motor up to the RPM that produces the miss and pull the spark plug wires out one at a time and note how much the engine RPM and smoothness changes. No change that cylinder is the miss. You will need a helper, the plastic piers for this task and use reverse instead of drive. If all the cylinders are about the same then you have something global that affects all cylinders such as the EGR.
