I have a 2000 EX V6.

It developed a strange shuffling noise. It seems like is coming from the passenger vent area. It sound like a CD player when its accessing the contents of a disc. At first, I thought it was the CD player, but even with the stereo turned off, the noise continues.

Even tried keeping the climate control system off, but the noise still continues. Can't figure out whats causing the noise.

Don't know if this is related, but the car has also been experiencing strange electrical problems. For example, the SRS light has came on before, but within 2 days it shut off. Sometimes if you press the volume control on the steering wheel, it will change the song playing instead.

Any ideas?

 

Flaky electrical problems are very often caused by bad grounds. Especially when the strange things begin happening with controls that are supposed to be unrelated.

"Shuffling" noise... Does that sound like the air-dampers moving like when you switch the heat from defrost to floor? Those are moved by little electric motors.

Does it have automatic climate control?

 

Yeah it has automatic climate control.

Not sure what you mean by the sound of air dampers. My best description would be it sounds like a scratched or dirty cd trying to be accessed in an optical drive. Not sure if you ever heard a dirty disc play in a drive, the drive stop and starts the spinning of the disc constantly.

It kinds of sound like a motor opening and closing the vents.
