Default Smoke 2004 Honda Accord V-6

Hello everyone,

Burning smell and smoke from behind the engine block. About every 15 seconds. Could this be a symptom related to the recall or something else?

Your advice is much appreciated.

Probably either coolant or oil leaking onto the hot exhaust and burning off. Are you familiar with what burnt oil or coolant smells like?

I would look on the back of the engine and see if there is oil or coolant on it.

Take a look to see if the power steering pressure hose is leaking. Also, check if the power steering fluid level is low in the reservoir.

Even though the updated replacement hose is not available yet, if it is the hose, you may want to contact the dealer or American Honda to take care of the problem in the interim until the updated hose becomes available.

What color is the smoke?

light blue indicates oil

white indicates coolant

Check your fluids, which one is getting low?

Honda dealership called. Small hole in the power steering hose spraying fluid. Related to recent recall.
