Default So I changed VSS and a getting VVS code again

My transmission is not wanting to shift on time. It mostly late shifts. The engine often hits high rpms with little forward movement until I get to the shift point. It is not undrivable but it i9s unpleasant. So I recently received a code 4 for VSS. I bought a brand new VSS on ebay for $11. The problem was immediately better. However, I notice performance is once again declining and I received the VSS code 4 again. At this point I am beginning to think that I need a new TCU. If anyone else has had this issue I could use some help.
