I put the thermostat in hot water before install and it opened

 

Post #3 says no purging... Do you mean NOTHING comes out? Is the bleeder valve plugged?

When it's cold you can check for air by squeezing the radiator hoses. You can hear & feel liquid sloshing around with the air-space. If there's no air space it sounds different.

 

I have tried all of the above.

I checked the brand new OEM thermostat and it is fine.

I drained all the coolant and then filled with the bleeder
valve open until s steady stream flowed through the valve.

Then tightened the valve and topped up the rad.

I started it ( it was left all night so it was cool)
and within 4 minutes the gauge was on the redline !!!

I was frustrated so I let it run for about 5 more minutes.

The thermostat was open because both hoses were
scalding hot.
I had the rad cap off just waiting for the coolant to circulate but the car stayed ABOVE the redline ! So I had to shut it off.

Also the fans Never came on and the hoses were well beyond 200 degrees!

I am stumped !

 

With the ignition switch to ON, turn on the A/C, does both cooling fans run?

If not, we can step through some other things to check.

 

I think you meant "start the car" (correct)?

When I turn the Ignition switch to ON and turn on the AC no fans come on.

When I start the car and turn on the AC, the fan on the drivers side of the radiator comes on

 

Yes, with engine running and A/C turn on, both fans should run.

Your radiator fan is not working.

1. Check Fuse 21 (20A) located in the under-hood fuse/relay box.

2. If fuse is good, swap the power window relay with the radiator fan relay and see if it makes a difference. See attached pic.

3. If radiator fan still doesn't run, check the fan motor by applying direct power and ground. This may be a little difficult to do, as the connector plug for the radiator fan is located near the bottom of the car. In addition, the plastic splash shield at the bottom of the car gets in the way when you're under the car.

Unplug the radiator fan connector and apply direct 12 volt power and ground to the connector. See linked pic. This way you can tell whether the fan motor is good or bad. You can use long wire just as speaker wires, etc. to run from the car battery or if you have a 12 volt lantern battery lying around, that works too.

I removed and tested the fan and it did not work, turns out it was stuck.

I cleaned it up a bit , gave it a push and it ran after that with no problem

Also your tips of the bleeder valve etc worked because all seems to be good now , no overheating
