Default speedo swap

Car I bought has the wrong gage cluster. No ABS light. I got the correct cluster, but would like to keep my speedo with the odometer/mileage.

Can the speedometers be swapped between the two without much hassle? I don't want to break any plastic parts.

If so, what is involved.

Its pretty easy to swap, You just remove the plastic casing, then remove the 4 screws that hold the speedometer in place and screw the new one in.

It may seem daunting but its actually pretty simple.

I can probably figure it out, but is it necessary to remove the front clear lens?

Yes otherwise you will get the speedo loose but not be able to get it off. It doesnt require baking or anything, its just some clips.

Okay, does the speedo needle just pull of and press back on?

No, its near impossible to remove the needle without breaking something. You need to swap the entire speedometer or cluster.

It turned out much easier than I expected.

After unsnapping the cover for the front lens, there are just 4 silver colored screws on the back of the circuit board ( all the rest are brass) that holds the speedo in the cluster.

Once those screws are removed, the speedo just falls out the front.
