Default SRS light?

Had car shipped from east coast to west coast and when it arrived the red SRS light has been on. Its a 2000 auto v6, stock 116k miles. Now I know this is an airbag issue but do I have to go to the dealer and drop $95 for them to diagnose if its actually a problem with the airbags or if its just the light staying on as a malfunction?

It might be worthwhile to stop by some place like autozone and have them read the codes with a generic scanner. Their's may not be able to read the SRS code, but its free and worth a shot. Post the code(s) on here or let us know if theirs can read the SRS system.

You may be able to find a shop that specializes in hondas in the yellow pages. they might charge you less to scan the codes.

Check the warranties. Seatbelts & airbags have a much longer warranty than the overall 3-yr. Maybe even lifetime warranty for 2000 Hondas.

**** so what did it end up costing you^^^

I think anything airbag related should be warrantied for life. Thats crazy. They could be facing major lawsuite if I crash and the bags dont deploy.

Thumbs up Reset the SRS Light

How Do I Reset The Srs Light?

Resetting the ECU won't do anything for you. . . you can read the code from the same ECU service connector (passenger side under dash) however to reset the light follow these steps.

1. turn ignition switch off, remove ECU service connector
2. connect (jump) the MES connector (this is 2 pin yellow connector wrapped in yellow plugged in the front of the under dash fuse box)
3. turn ignition switch on
4. SRS light will come on for 6 secs then go out, remove the jumper within 4 secs after the light goes out.
5. the SRS light will come on again, reconnect the jumper within 4 secs after the light has come on.
6. the SRS light will go off, remove the jumper with in 4 secs after the light has gone off.
7. the SRS light will blink to times indicating the memory is reset

i got this informtion from website but dont remember what it the name ........just to be honest

Have any of you checked the warranty book yet? If it's FREE would that be worth a phone call to the dealer to find out?
