While you're on the phone with the dealer, ask them about the seatbelts & SRS system being WARRANTIED for the life of the vehicle...
The srs system isn't warrantied for life, just the seatbelts. Sometimes they do overlap though.

JHopper1, or anyone else, can you expand on this recall on the SRS system? My light came on today for no apparent reason
The only recalls I can think of wouldn't cause the srs light to come on. Year and model would help to look into it farther.

Well that link I posted was only for cars with Side Airbags (which I don't have). I went ahead and reset the SRS light tonight using links found in other posts and it hasn't come back on yet. I also went through my manual and didn't see any warranty info for the SRS system, so if you know more than me I'd be happy to hear it!

I'm no gear head, but I did not think that the seat belts had anything to do with the SRS. I thought SRS was airbags only, so I'm sure how the rear seatbelts would set off the SRS light.

Regarding the passenger side airbag, I found that under NHTSA Campaign id# 02V080000. According to that:

Summary:
ON CERTAIN PASSENGER VEHICLES, A COMPONENT IN THE INFLATOR OF SOME PASSENGER AIR BAG MODULES WAS NOT WELDED PROPERLY.
Consequence:
AS A RESULT, THE AFFECTED AIR BAGS MAY NOT DEPLOY CORRECTLY IN A CRASH, INCREASING THE RISK OF INJURY TO A FRONT SEAT PASSENGER.
That doesn't sound like it'd set off the SRS light to me. That sounds like "Crap I just rear ended someone and my passenger side airbag didn't expand". But seriously, thanks for looking that up. I guess I can't find any recalls that would set off the light.

The srs system works with the seatbelts. It knows wheather they are latched or not. Some it sets the belts tighter when hit.

Oops... I thought they were both covered. Sorry.

Check your warranty book. Aren't the airbags covered longer than the full 3/36 warranty (but not forever)? I thought that was a govt. mandate.

Thanks for the input guys. After resetting it Thursday it hasn't come on yet. I was looking over the list of TSB's and the one that would seem to be likely given my accessories would be 01-005 - Export Service Bulletin - SRS Indicator On With DTC 9-3 or Drivers Seat Belt Buckle Replacement. If it comes on again we'll go read the code.
