Default starting issues

Honda accord LXI 1989. The battery holds a charge and the alternator is fine as well i tested both I'm not sure if its the charge back wire or the after market stereo causing the car to not start on occasion. Please let me know of anything I can do to fix this issue.

When it doesn't start, does the starter fail to spin the engine (starter problem)?

Or does it crank but not fire? (fuel or spark problem)

Check and verify that you are getting 12v on the small wire to the starter when the starter fails to spin the engine over.

Also be sure the ends of the cables on the battery are clean and tight. Then check the ground cable where it attaches to the body and then to the trans to be sure those connections are clean and tight.
