Hello all,

I have a 2009 Accord EX-L with the 3.5L V6. The vehicle has just over 8k on it. This past month I noticed that the steering wheel vibrated at speeds over 65 mph. I took the vehicle back to the dealer where I purchased it and after three attempts, the issue is still not resolved. The dealer balanced all four tires, machined the front brake rotors, and replaced the right front tire. I would like to know if anyone else has run into this problem and what the solution might be. I contacted Honda directly and was told that this was a characteristic of the vehicle. Any infomation would be very appriciated. Thank you for taking the time to read this post.

Rebalancing the wheels would rule out a missing weight.

If a rim was bent (pothole?) they might not notice if they're not looking for it. Balancing machines have guards all around so it's not always easy to watch the wheel spin.

Find someplace that uses a Hunter GSP9700 balancing machine. It presses the tire against a roller while balancing, so it might to be able to tell if the belts inside the tire are damaged. (Don't know how they'll handle that as far as warranty...)

 

I'd blame cheapo tires first. No off brand tires-they're a huge waste of money.

Anything hi speed is generally tires.

Or a damaged tire. I agree with the guy who said use a "road force" balancer.

You can have the dealer swap (unbolt) all four tire/wheels with a donor car (maybe a used car on the lot) and see if it remains on the test drive.

 

Move the front wheels to the back and see if there is a change. If not, then the problem is the rotors, brakes, or something else on the front. If the vibration goes away, then the problem is one of the two wheels you moved to the back. Move ONE of the wheels that was moved to the rear, back to the front. If no vibration, then it is the other wheel that wasn't moved. If the vibration comes back, then that wheel you moved back to the front is the bad wheel.

You might try alignment, but usually(?) mis-alignment causes it to pull to one side or the other, or the tires wear unevenly. Shaking is not usually caused by alignment.

 

Possiable it is worn power steering rack issue, not cheap tires or worn suspension parts. Provided the mechanic is
saying that everything looks fine.Your brake pads dont move at all rotors. Your calipers slide back n forth on guide pins that are greased.That would not be the issue
