Default Strange noise Accord EX 4-dr (4cyl) 2005

There is a strange whooping noise coming from my car during stop and go traffic, usually happens when my foot is on the brake. I was hoping if anybody else knows what I'm talking about. I can't isolate the noise..

Brake pads worn down? Does it ever happen when you're NOT braking?

The brake pads were replaced a few months ago. The noise only happens when my foot is on the brake.

Thanks

warped rotor/drum or a rust spot on a braking surface. Has the car sat for any extended periods of time? A week or two can cause a nice amount of rust to build up if it has been raining.

No. The car has been used almost every day. Sorry I can't give you any more details. I really appreciate your responses.

Only during braking, then we can focus on the brakes.

Even tho the pads are new, maybe they're still making noise. Who installed them? Used brake-grease on the ends where they fit into the caliper brackets? Used the shims? Or used some anti-squeal compound?

Brake grease and/or anti-squeal compound can be added now, or the pads can be checked to see if they fit nice into the caliper brackets. They aren't supposed to wedge tightly into place.

Finally, some brands of pads just make more noise. That doesn't mean they aren't working.

Thank you all for your input. I'll mention this to the service mechanic.

Thanks again for you helpful responses.
