Swap heads F20B & F22B on Accord 96 - Philippines
Thanks sir JimBlake, I went to the mechanic earlier to have the car fixed..they first tested the F22B and indeed it has a leak, water/coolant and oil are mixing inside the engine. When we brought the F20B to be checked, the mechanic said that he wanted to make sure the F20B head is working perfectly after months of sitting in my garage and collecting dust, to make sure I'll replace the same internals (valve spring retainers? oil seals etc) so i decided to go with the F22B instead since I'll be paying almost the same amount.
But they told me that the F20B SOHC non-Vtec (PhDM as we call it here) fits 100% with the F22B SOHC non-vtec PhDM. Both the F22B and the F20B head can interchange their internal parts.
Problem solved! so now Im thinking of slowly rebuilding the F20B and sell at as a whole or its parts. hahaha

Newbie here, I just threw a rod in my engine yesterday and busted a hole in my engine block. I'm on a budget to get it repaired but a f20b complete engine is way too expensive for me. I am wondering if the f22b block will fit my f20b vtec head.
hi sir bahamacha, if your f22B and F20B are both SOHC just like my engines as seen on the pictures posted in the 1st page, based on my experience I guess its safe to say that it will fit.
But if we are talking about the DOHC version of both engines, I pretty sure that a lot from this forum can help youout since they got more experience to the DOHC versions... =))

ok so what if were talking about the F20B DOHC VTEC head? will it bolt right up to a F22B1 Vtec block? someone said you have to change the water pump gear and something else or if u wanna keep those u use h23 cam gears and the f20b timing belt.... anyone know?
also since the f22b1 is a stock vtec block do u need the LS/vtec oil kit to get oil to the head? or will it bolt right up

Most of the member on here are from the USA. Instead of guessing, try to find out the OEM Honda part numbers for the head gasket on each engine. If they use the same head gasket, then the cylinder heads will bolt up.
my question wasnt about head gaskets... let me rephrase...
what timing belt would you use for a F22B1 Vtec SOHC Block/F20B DOHC Vtec Head assuming it will bolt right up... and would you have to change the F22b1 timing gear and waterpump gear or will it work with the teeth on say the H23 TBelt/ or f22b1 stock Tbelt

I decided to swap my f20b dohc vtec with a f22 sohc vtec.. first of all has anyone done this swap that can give me some information as to what i'm gonna need.. also will the tranny fit from my f20b onto the f22.. and most importantly the electrical
