Default Tach going dead

I have a 96 Accord V6 EXL. I recently had the odometer stop working so I got it swapped out. Thats when my problems started. The tach will flutter up and down and sometimes just stay at 0 while driving. When the tach starts to flutter, the engine will sputter no matter what speed I am at. I have had a check engine light one time and went away after a short trip down the interstate and no check engine light has came back on. After a couple weeks, the issue will go away for a couple months then come back. Temperatureis not a factor, it does it when it is hot or cold outside. Here lately, when the tach is flutteringthe car changes gears extremly rough.Took it to my local Honda dealer, they said it was my after market spark plugs and wires causing the problem. Has anyone heard or experienced this problem before? I am at a total loss on this one. By the way, this is my first post. I currently own a 2006 Pilot EX RES.

Anyone know of a good website to get parts realtively cheap?

Thanks in advance for any help.

Default RE: Tach going dead

Well don't shoot the messenger, but tach jumping around, along with engine missing, is usually a sign the coil isheading 'south' in a handbasket.
Now why this happened at the exacttime you changed the speedo cluster is a different question, unless some wires got pinched and grounded behind the cluster.

majestic honda has a parts website
