Default Tbelt tensioner spring

Working on an 87 accord with 118,000 miles and wondering if most people change the spring along with the tensioner when doing a tbelt change or should the original spring be okay?

Thank you

The spring is pretty cheap for peace of mind. If the spring doesn't look stretched or rusted, then you can reuse.

Okay thanks. One other question.. the rubber washer that goes around the tensioner bolt.. does the washer go outside the cover or inside the cover? Is it all that necessary? I assume it just seals out dirt? Mine in torn in two and I don't have a replacement..

Thanks again.

I think it goes inside the cover. I remember someone on here used a rubber washer from a garden hose for that seal. If you have a garden hose, give it a shot and let us know if it works.

Just be sure the hose does not fall inside the cover, that could be bad. I'd find an e-clip of the right size, from the outside of the cover slide it onto the bolt that sticks through-where the "indent" on the bolt is. Then if you are worried about dirt getting in, add a dab of silcone around it.

the spring is redundant, a Honda staple and why they are so damn good.
like already stated, for piece of mind change it, though i never do.
