In your first post, the D4 goes off (when driving) and you have issues....hummm.
Clean the gound on the t-stat housing as a start. Also be sure the battery connections are clean and tight.

Since I started this, during the several short errands on which I've driven the car, it has not come out of limp mode at all.
I will check those grounds, though. Thanks.
