ok, how long do you thing it might take for a car to get warm enough for both fans to be on?? also is 1 gallon 50/50 antifreeze enought or do i need more??
might take several minutes,, make sure to monitor the needle on the gauge,,
lower hose should begin to feel hot ( t-stat opening ) when needle is about or slightly above 1/4 at the temp gauge
Both fans should come on when needle is at around 1/2 \ at temp gauge
if needle is at 1/2 on the gauge and lower hose is NOT hot ,, t-stat is sticking closed , needs replacing ..
1 gallon mix 50-50 should do the job
chk this out..

desert , a definate thank you to you for your help, i took the car for a short drive, came back home popped the hood, both fans on, top hose and bottom hose hot , turned car off and the passenger side fan stayed on for a short time then cut off, all sounds good???
Sounds to me like you've got it! Since you had a hot upper hose at one point and a cold lower hose you may still have a sticky thermostat so if your issues come back then keep in mind that it may need replacing...
