Default timing belt replace

Re: 1995 Honda Accord 2.7L LX Sedan

I replaced at 83,000. now have 152,000, looking to replace timing belt, thermostat, waterpump. any suggestions here. The OEM Waterpump, OEM Genuine Timing Belt Tensioner, OEM Thermostat are available for the car. I currently have a Goodyear belt but believe I can get an OEM Genuine Timing belt.

or should I go with a Gates and get the Kit = Belt, Tensioner, Spring, Water Pump, Rubber Seal Ring and then buy the OEM Thermostat? anything else suggested to replace in this process?

thanks happy New Year!

I typically stick with OEM parts if they aren't cost prohibitive especially for something critical like the timing belt.

I'm not as familiar with the V6 setup on the 95, but you may want to replace the shaft seals on the crank, cam, and balance belt (if the V6 has them). They can get brittle over time and heat and leak some oil. Any that are leaking oil should be replaced at a minimum.

Also, the 90-97 4-cylinder accords had a recall to install a shaft seal retainer to prevent the seal from backing out and causing a major oil leak. You may want to look if the V6 has this option.

thanks for the info! so I did the research. there is no Balance belt nor a shaft seal retainer for the 2.7L.

so I am going to order a NOK Camshaft Seal and a NOK Crankshaft Seal - Front

so with the 2 Seals, the Timing Belt, the Tensioner, the Water Pump, Thermostat. is there anything else I am missing to do a complete timing belt replace and upgrade? should I get a Timing Belt Adjuster Spring? how about replacing the Accessory Belt Idler Pulley?

also, does a OEM Water Pump normally come with the Gasket??

happy new year!

I can't remember who makes the Honda timing belts. I'd price the OEM from the dealer or online dealers vs the aftermarket to see if it is worth the increase in cost.

I would if this was my car. Cheap insurance if the old idler pulley starts to fail.
