Question Tpms reset

2009 Accord LX, auto
First winter with car, got 4 new steel wheels and winter tires, new tire pressure monitoring transmitters. Went well.
Springtime, put back on original all season tires with original wheels.
TPMS lights up, Tires Plus sends us back to Honda to reset.
Charged $250 by Honda dealer!
So, we have to pay this twice per year? Our 2009 BMW 3 series gets tires/wheels swapped twice per year, no issues.
Obviously, we are now driving with TPMS light on , will not pay again.
Can this be right? $500 per year to Honda to use winter tires with TPMS?
Any ideas?
Thanks.

Some dealers and tire places charge less to reprogram the TPMS for the different TPMS sensors. You could always call first.

An alternative is to buy a TPMS programmer and do it yourself. One brand is ATEQ, there are others. I'm not endorsing ATEQ, just heard some people have used it.
