Warranty = free. Honda screwed up, not you. They get to pay.

Tell her it's covered under a warranty. If they don't want to bring it in, then put it up for sale ASAP and let someone else deal with it. That's what falkore did... There's countless stories about the 6th gen tranny issue and we can find threads you can show your parents.

go to honda .com for info on transmission problems, honda will replace your transmission free of charge with a rebuilt unit and a 36000 mile warrenty up to 107000 miles, they did it for me with no problems at all, they had a bad vendor which caused some transmissions to fail but not all, if you have a problem try another dealer. i had none at all and your vehicle does not have to have any current warrenty, mine was bought used with 77000 miles and they took care of it, get it to the dealer while it still runs

Hmm I'm finally free on Tuesday to go to my honda dealer with a friend to talk to someone about the transmission. I'm kinda scared because i looked on honda.com and i saw the extended transmission warranties and only saw it for years 2000+ and it said only the V6's and the 5 speeds. I'm gonna call the main honda number tomorrow. I really hope I will be covered on a warrenty...

Well I had 2 failed attempts today with honda. I went to the dealer and talked about the tranny warranty. They looked up my vin number and said that there is nothing for the extended warranty except for 2 recalls that had been done. Then right after i called honda of america and first they said my title was salvaged to a code M wich is tampering of the odometer. I have never done that and theres no way the previous owner had tried because I know the lady. Possibly a mechanic did something stupid when she had the car. Buit they also said the looked up the vin number and there was nothing. Dang it, time to handle the car very gently...

Tampering with the odometer (for malicious reasons) on that car isn't too feasible. The mileage is stored in the ECU and displayed on an LCD. Could mean 2 things... 1) Your gauge cluster was swapped out or 2) the ECU was swapped out at some point...

Have you thought about selling the car and getting a 5 speed? (or 6 speed [8D])
