trans issues on 90 accord dx automatic

Default trans issues on 90 accord dx automatic

ok so i have searched for anyone else who had this issue but couldnt find anything so if somebody knows where to find the answer it will be muchly appreciated

ok so i have a 1990 honda accord 2 dr coupe dx 2.2l 4 speed automatic with 200xx miles on it

my transmission has started kinda jumping about 500 rpm between 2nd gear and 3rd gear, and if im rolling to a stop but start accelerating again before i stop it kinda gets confused about what gear to start back out in, and when cruising at freeway speeds it tends to jump between the last two gears while at a constant speed... any help will be greatly appreicated.. thx for your time!

Does the D4 light start flashing?

Have you checked for codes? There is a DIY section thread on how to get CEL codes.

Along with PA's questions.

Don't forget to also check the fluid level and then, when was the last time the fluid was changed-Drian and fill on Honda's.

no there is no lights on and it throws no codes, and i have no idea when it has been drained and re-filled...

First, I'm not good with auto trans. No codes, well....

Check the fluid level. If it is full then check the color of the fluid, might need to be changed.....Hope it is not the tranny giving up.

yeah i was guna do that today but ive had no time so hopefully tomorrow will check that and me and u both, that is guna suck if the trannys goin, but idk cuz it feels like my jeep did when the trans filter was plugged...

I agree w/ changing the trans fluid. For best possible results, a complete fluid swap is suggested. Check youtube "atomatic transmission fluid flush". (use this spelling for search) The procedure is not a flush, but does completely empty old fluid.

Another method is to simply drain/replace fluid three times. This is easier, but a bit expensive at $6-$8/qt for ATF-Z1.

Also, has anyone changed the throttle linkage or adjusted throttle mechanism? Adjusting the transmission throttle linkage per Honda Shop Manual (see DIY Online Manuals for download if you don't have a manual) can greatly impact shift quality. Even if nothing has been done, may be worth checking and adjusting to spec.

oh ok thx texas ill go look those up right now, im going to be going to the junk yard today to get a new front engine mount, shouldnt be to hard
