Hi all
01 Accord V6 w/4spd
98K miles always serviced

3 days ago - out of the blue - this happened

Started reving and not engaging first or reverse. It would engage around 1500-1700 rpm. Then once that happens, all is well and the shifting is fine.

Had codes: P0730, P1739, P0730

So:
Took apart solenoids (did not replace) but cleaned filters. Little muck on there. Cleaned bodies.

Then flushed and refilled twice
(smelled a little burned but not obnoxious)

Replaced 3rd clutch pressure switch due to code.

Seems to be the same

Wierd that this happened all of a sudden, one morning.

Have not driven the car other than to test drive.

Any ideas?

Does anyone know the:

Solenoid resistance - Ohms?
Perhaps they are not moving as far as they should.

How do we check fluid pressure in the trans? Seems to work fine after the revs get up and it gets in first - perhaps pressure related.

Looking for ideas here before chewing off replacement cost.

I believe this vintage Accord V6 was known for trans problems. Suggest discussing issues w/ Honda shop and see if they might offer and "good will", or strart saving for a replacement. Is cleaning solenoids doesn't fix problem, it's probably an internal issue.
