Default Transmission Fluid drain and fill confusion

2010 Honda Accord 4 cylinder automatic

manual has me putting in 2.6 qts drain and fill

started with that but now I’m up to 3 and still low. No visible leaks. I probably took out 3.5 (measured close to that and spilled a tiny) do I just put back more a little at a time until I’m good? Just worried to overfill since this is the first time I’ve ever not been even close to the book on something. I’m a lot over it seems!

car runs so much better since drain and fill.

thanks!

How are you adding the ATF and which ATF are you using?

using recommended Honda ATF DW-1, think that’s the full name? Only way I can add it I think is straight through dipstick hole on my model.

thanks for any advice!

my car was always a laboring through gears so when it now was smooth I don’t want to mess with it too much as it is running nice for once. Last 30k miles I’d have off and on laboring from 3rd to 4th gear depending on the time of year.

Hmmm, I've never worked on your generation of Accord, but previous generations had a large plug located on the top of the transaxle for refilling via a long funnel. Is it safe to assume your car has an orange loop for the oil level dipstick and a yellow loop on the top of the transmission level dipstick?
