Default 2007 Accord Transmission Flush

Gents,

i have learned today that my 2007 Accord had a transmission flush. I just bought the car and saw
the notice on Carfax. The trans flush happened 4,000 miles ago. I called Honda and I can to a trans flush and fill. Honda doesn’t do flashing but they suggested doing a drain and fill and do it about every 5000 or so miles. Opinions would be valued here. The transmission has Valvoline full life synthetic.

I think 20,000 miles is a better interval. But since it has Valvoline fluid, you might want to do 3 drain & fill cycles to get that out.

I wouldn't trust Carfax to use the proper terminology. Even some dealers say "flush" when they actually mean drain/fill.

I would only use Honda ATF.

Agreed, get that Valvoline stuff out of there, it is NOT approved for use in any Honda transmission. As @JimBlake wrote, perform a "3x3" transmission drain/fill operation (three consecutive drains and refill with three quarts of DW-1).

I did call the shop that did the flushing. They actually told me they did flush the transmission. I talked with Honda and they did the drain/fill with the right fluid. They told me not to worry and should wait 20,000 miles for the next service. But I do agree with y’all about the “3x3”. So should I drive a few thousand miles then do another drain/fill? I am a little paranoid here. Had a bad experience with my 2005 Accord because i flushed the transmission with different fluid. I learned my lesson and now do my homework.

Is it a CVT? I don't think Honda had that type of transmission in 2007?
Are you able to change your own oil? Drain/fill the transmission is about as easy as that.

The 3x3 seems more important when the fluid is all muddy & full of crud. But I'd probably worry just like you about having the wrong fluid. In between the drain/fill cycles, you only need to mix the fluid up good. Some people drive around the block, others wait a couple days or a week just for their own convenience.

I was thinking the same thing about just doing the drain/fill myself. I need to know the exact type of transmission fluid as well just to be sure. Would happen to know what type of Honda transmission fluid?

Just bought a case of the DW-1. I will be doing the drain/fill once or twice in the next month or few weeks. Thanks for all the input!
