Transmission question: 95 Accord LX 5-speed
My beloved Accord has been making a slight thumping sound when I'm driving faster than 35-40 mph. It only does it when I have my foot on the gas; when I take my foot off the gas, depress the clutch pedal, or am stopped or in neutral, it's quiet.
Preliminarily, we're thinking it might be the throw out bearing. My question is, how difficult and costly a repair is this? I have no idea if this is a $200 job or a $2,000 job since I have no idea how labor-intensive it is for a mechanic to access this area. I appreciate your thoughts!

It sounds more like an axle problem to me. Bad inner CV joints are usually suspect if it happens when you're on the gas but goes away when you lift.
I don't see how the throw-out bearing will change it's behavoir as you get on & off the gas.
