Transmission won't shift on it's own

Default Transmission won't shift on it's own

1992 Accord wagon LX with 169k miles D4 light won't light up on dash trans will shift manually from 2nd to D3 but not 1st or D4. Car had been sitting up for like 2yrs prior to driving trans fluid was totally black and idle sensor seems to be faulty car idles up and down! Can the shift selonid be changed and solve trans problem? Please help

You posted this onto the end of an unrelated thread, so I moved it to it's own separate thread...

You can change the solenoids, but whether that will fix the problem is another question. I'm no auto-trans guru, so I hope someone else chimes in.
