I have a 97 EX 4cyl. I need to replace the rotors. I followed deserthondas excellent How To. I am trying to remove the rotors with no luck. I have tried banging on the roters with 3lb hammer with no luck. Is there a tool for removing the hub from the knuckle that I can rent? Can I remove the hub from the knuckle when it is off the car? I had to take the knuckle off the passenger side to replace the lower ball joint. I have a good independent Honda shop close by that I can check with tomorrow but I was hoping to finish this on my own.

you got the 4 bolts on the back side off ...right ?? and the 36mm axle nut ? I have no problem knocking those off but again i reside in Arizona there is no rust here ,, if you reside in a state where there is snow and rust it could be harder to come off,, you might have to remove the whole knuckle and take it to a shop to press the hub out ,,
than before installing it,, make sure to get some sand paper and clean the area where the hub goes into and the hub itself ,,

 

Thanks. I ended up getting the passenger side hub out but I had to take the driver side knuckle in to press the hub apart. I talked to the mechanic and he said they always press the hub apart on the car. The rust from Minnesota's road salt makes it too difficult to get the hub out of the knuckle on most cars.
