Default Trunk leaks when it rains.

I have a '92 Accord EX 4-door. When it rains, the trunk gets soaked. I've looked at the rubber seals for any cracks or tears....nothing. I looked for "rain streaks" on the inside of the trunk...nothing. Aside from locking myself in the trunk and waiting for it to rain, what am I missing? Does anyone have a good method of finding leaks in a trunk? Thanks!

Lock yourself inside with a flashlight, & give your friends the garden hose...

Or; Sprinkle talcum powder around inside. Makes the rain streaks much easier to see. But then you have to clean it out.

A common place for leaksis the seal behind the tail lights.
You'll need an 8mm deepwell socket to remove the tail lights and check the seal.

A friend had a 97-ish Civic with a strange leak in the trunk. Check out something like this...

The sheetmetal immediately outside the trunk weatherstrip forms a kind of raingutter where water flows down towards the bumper. Her car was rear-ended, & when they repaired the sheetmetal they cut & overlapped some metal in that area. Didnt seal it good, so the overlapping metal allowed water to leak.

It dripped straight down rather than running down the side, so it didn't leave any water tracks. I dont think I would have found it any other way than sitting inside while someone poured water over the trunk. I fixed it with some caulking.

My trunk area does leak too when it rains or I go to the car wash.

I do like Jim's idea about getting inside the trunk, but my buddies would probably not let me out, and then they would drink all my beer.

LOL!
