Default Two questions: 94 accord

1. (already answered)

2. Does the ECM (ie; as if reading codes) have to be "jumped" in order to set ignition timing? (F22B, Auto.)

Thank you honda angels!

1. On most older Hondas the speedometer were a little off, within 5 mph from the actual speed. There are people that asked similar questions regarding their older Hondas on this and other Honda forums, and the consensus is that most older Hondas' speedometer reading were a little off, generally showing faster than actual. Newer generation (e.g., 8th gen, 9th gen) Honda Accord's speedometers are more accurate.

Not worth the money on bringing your car to a speedometer shop to try to calibrate.

2. Ignition timing and inspection does involve shorting the Service Check Connector on your car.

2 - YES.
Normally, even at idle, the ECM will be constantly making small adjustments on the spark timing. Shorting the SCS connector will tell the ECM to quit doing that so you can measure & adjust the "base" spark timing.

You can check the speedometer calibration if you can find a highway with a "measured mile". Stopwatch & simple calculation will get your speed. Beware, the "mile markers" on interstates can be off by sometimes several percent.

Thanks so much! You guys are really helping me bring this car back from a neglectful ne'er-do-well's ownership, and for free! Heros!

Had to send brand new aftermarket starter back to ebay seller. Solenoid would click as I turned key on and off up to 25 times before it would kick the starter. Looking for a Denso...
