ULEV swap on 95 lx!!!!! PLEASE HELP!!!
hi, i recently bought a 95 accord lx with a bad engine, i want to replace the engine so i bought a 98 ulev vtec engine, i was wondering what else do i need to do the swap besides the ecu? the engine already comes with all the wiring, also the ulev came off a auto and my car is a 5spd.... anyone knows what i need for the swap?

I'm sure that the swap can be done, but it may be a PIA.
Here are some things you will have to consider when when doing that kind of swap.
Will your 95 transmission bolt up to the 98 engine. Are the mounts in the same location to bolt the engine to the frame. Will the 95 axles and steering rack work? Looking for identical aftermarket part numbers for the 95 vs the 98 will help determine if these are interchangeable.
You will probably need a catalytic converter from a 96/97 or 98-02, because your 95 only has one o2 sensor, so your 98 ECU will always have your check engine light on.

When I had a 98 (& I had the Helm shop manual for it) I remember the ULEV had a MUCH different wiring harness. I would expect that you'll need more than just the OBD-2 wiring harnesses, but they have to be specific to the ULEV (California) engine.

I don't know the differences between the ULEV and the normal engine, so it may or may not be simple to do. Some of the sensors may be different and could be in different locations.
I also don't know what ECU you would be able to use. It may have to be an OBD2 ECU from a non-ULEV vehicle. I'm not sure how well a stock 95 OBD1 ECU will be able to handle the 98 engine.
There are a lot of things to consider when swapping between different generations of accords, so most people suggest replacing an engine within the same generation accord. Like replacing the 95 engine with a 94/95 engine. You will have much less of a headache when doing this.

Once upon a time someone said the ULEV engine has a 32-bit ECU instead of the 16-bit one for the other 2 engines. All I remember is that there were tons of differences in the wiring harness. Wide-band O2 sensor for the ULEV, and it was at a different set of pins vs. the non-ULEV ECU. O2 sensor heaters were powered out of a different fuse, all kinds of things that should have been un-related.
