Hello Everyone,
I've been on this board for the last couple of days doing a bit of research on the Accord v6 coupe MT. All the info I've found in here has been very helpful and it is really making it hard for me to make a decision on what car to purchase - 2008 S2000 or 2008 Accord Coupe EX-L V6 MT?
I test drove the s2k the other day and I have to admit it was a hard beast to tame. I've never owned a MT car before but I do know how to drive one... but just not as well as most of you here. The s2k felt really notchy going into 1st and from 1st to 2nd. But a bit of that is probably my inexperience with a MT.
I haven't had a chance to test drive the Accord because I have yet to find a dealership in Chicago that has a MT in stock. I would even try the i4 version,if that would help. However, my dealer says he can definitely get a hold of one from a few dealerships that are about 80 - 100 miles from Chicago.
Is the v6 as notchy as s2k? Or are all Honda transmissions pretty much the same?
So, I know that i'm posting in an accordforum but if you guys could try to be somewhat objective and weigh in on which car i should take this would be greatly appreciated.
Keep in my mind the following factors:
-I'm not a sesoned MT driver.
-I live in chicago which just had a total of over 53 inches of snow this past winter.
-I have a really short commute to work - less than 5 miles.
-I really want to get the feel of a sports car - does the v6 coupe fulfill that?
-Priceisn't an issue because once isurance is factored in i end up paying the same for either car.
Well that's that and I would deeply appreciate any input you current owners have.
Thanks.

Welcome to the site.
Being an owner of a 2002 S2000 and a 2008 Accord,I can tell you that you are looking at two COMPLETELY different cars.
The 'notchiness' of the gears box can probably be attributed to the transmission not being warm yet. With mine, I need to go through 3-3-1-2-3-4 real quick in the garage, before I pu it into R. I don't NEED to do this, I kust do it because I have found it makes it easier to go into reverse. The first couple of shifts going down the road are usually a little 'stiff' as well, but after about a mile, everything is like butter. MANY people feel the S2000 tranny is one of the best MT's in the world.
As for a comparison between the two cars, you may want to think about insurance. I have found that the Accord is cheaper even though the S is over 6 years old.
The S is a convertable while the Accord (obviously) is not. The convertable aspect bring in the idea of theft. MANY S's have had their top slashed and their seats stolen. I do not know if you are in a high crime area or if you will have the car stored in a garage or not, but this is also something to think about. People go to hard tops or buy seat locks (I have those), but seat locks will not keep your top from being slashed.
The S2000 is a handful if not driven correctly. Honda has done some work with the '04+ models to 'soften' the rear suspension and that has made it a little easier to drive. Remember though, it is a TRUE sports car. This is not a family car, but the rewards or SOOOOOO awesome.
The Accord is a VERY reliable car that offers A LOT of comfort and performance as well. I miss certain Accord features that are not offered in the S (steering wheel controls for sound and such). The ride is A LOT smoother and the V6 model has a lot of power to play with.
In the end, you need to ask yourself, do you need a car like the S- oh wait, that's a tv show. All joking aside, you really do need to figure out what exactly you are trying to get from your next car. Do you want a sports car that is SOOO much fin to drive, but can only take one person and does not have a lot of room for luggage and such **OR** do you want a great car that still has some fun factor, but can still do any daily task you ask of it while you are still being comfortable?
