Default Unknown Oil Leak

Hello,

Trying to figure out where the oil leak in the pictures is coming from?
Please see the green arrows for oil leak locations. My guess is that they are some sort of seals.

Thanks,
Troy

First of all, what year, engine, transmission, model, etc... accord is this?

The arrows point to where the oil is dripping. The source of the leak is above. You need to find the highest point where oil is visible on the engine block.

What side of the engine is the oil leaking? Drivers/passenger/bumper/firewall?

Sorry. I thought I added the info. to my profile, but i see it's not there.
The car is a 2001 Honda Accord EX 4cycl. The leak is on the passenger side near the transmission.

Until you fix your leak, check the oil level daily. Have oil in the trunk to top it off to the proper level.

The four places I would look are:

1. Where the distributor meets the cylinder head. Look for oil under there.
2 Remove the distributor cap and check for oil inside the distributor.
3. Look around where the valve cover meets the cylinder head on that side of the engine.
4. Check for oil around the VTec solenoid. It is bolted on the back (firewall side) of the cylinder head on the passenger side of the car.

Are you sure that the leak isn't trans fluid?

Not sure. It doesn't look red, but could be old tranny fluid I guess. I replaced both tranny seals yesterday and when I ran a test today w/ UV dye added the leak is clearly coming from where the driver side seal is located. I will reinspect later today, but although I added a new seal it's still leaking. Could be that the seal is not seated properly?

Looks like oil or PS fluid to me. If trans leaks, it ATF and should have red tinge to it. If oil, not surprising that trans seals didn't work. You can sniff the diff between oil and ATF.

good luck

It's confirmed that it's oil. It may be coming from the new oil pan install where the arc is. I will do more investigating.

Looks like I finally tracked the oil leak down. I thought it was coming from the tranny axis seal, but that would leak tranny oil. After further investigation and the help of the uv dye it looks like oil is leaking from the solenoid and dripping down on the tranny seal.
