so far the won't run hot seems to have been cured with the fuel filter
maybe i will change it in a more timely fashion from now on 271k on original filter may have been a stretch

new issue is the power steering acting up
it seemed to act a little irratic, checked fluid, topped with honda fluid
turned wheel lock to lock and foamed out
very brown and a little burnt smelling
now its back at the lower level and i noticed a vibration in the hose from the pump to the rack which i hadn't recognized earlier
pump itself is not noisy butthe steering is not like it should be
maybe delayed would describe it best
no obvious leaks
possibly new fluid is the best starting point
the hose vibration is a concern, fluid path is restricted or something causing irratic/delayed feel @ steering wheel

In the bottom of the res there is a filter/screen that might need to be cleaned....I think the only way to replace it is with a new res.

Inspect all of the hoses for signs of leaks....not only leaking fluid out (usually pressure side) but also where it might be sucking air in.
