Your imperial gallons are 20% larger then US gallons. Still, you guys pay a lot for fuel. I can really annoy my UK friends by sending a photo of a petrol price sign. Right now it's pretty high at about GBP 0.54 per liter.
Gear changing is half the fun of it. I hate all the new cars around here are unavailable with a manual gearbox.

VSA uses the wheel sensors (like ABS) so a flaky connection or maybe some crud around the sensor. A previous car of mine didn't have VSA, but had troubles with ABS when some metal shavings get stuck around the magnetic wheel-speed sensor.

No issues with brakes I’m aware of. I should check abs is functioning. Light for abs indicates no issues. Thanks for that info though. Very interesting.

A code 81-01 states a problem with the VSA control unit. You may want to check the electrical connectors for any corrosion on the control unit. In the USA vehicles the control unit is in the engine bay on the right side of the engine bay. The right side of the car is the right when you are sitting in the seat inside the vehicle.
