Ok guys thanks for the advice. I found another problem though. The plug to my VSS is completely corroded and so is part of the VSS itself. Is there some thing I can use to clean it off or do I have to replace the whole thing? Oh, and is there some form of sealant I can put on it to keep it from happening again? Thanks

 

You can remove light corrosion with a rubber pencil eraser. But difficult to get down inside that plug. But you said "completely corroded" so how bad is it? If much metal is gone, you'll have to replace it.

You can get some dielectric grease at autozone & put that in the plug. But it won't fix the missing metal.

 

I cleaned the plug with some actual cleaner for electrical parts and it came pretty clean but it still doesn't seem to be making contact. Do I need to have the computer reset to see if is making good contact? It took awhile because it was pretty bad. Should I go to a junkyard to try to find a better plug? Is there a place to order one? Thanks

 

If you are sure the VSS is good, I'd go to a local bone yard and snip off the connector and splice it it....use some lube, of the proper type, in the connector and call of a day. If you think the VSS is bad....grab that while at the bone yard as well.
