Default Water in interior

hello everyone.hope you guys can help me out as this is bothering me a bunch.I have a 07 accord ex-l 4d. A couple weeks ago we had a bad rainstorm and my car was parked in front of a stormdrain. The drain got clogged and water backed up causing a huge puddle. The water got up to about 2 inches below my doors. When i seen this i ran out the house to move the car but is was too late as my carpet was soaked with about an inch of water(i have sinced dried and cleaned everything out).My question is how did the water get in? Can it come up from underneath the floorboards as the water was that high.Someone proposed that it got in from other cars driving by and causing waves to splash against the doors but i dont think that happen because the side of the carpert were dry.The only thing i coulds think of is that since the water was pretty high and it was raining hard my drain plugs from windshield and sunroof could not drain and it got in that way.I just dont know so any suggestions would help as it bothering me.Thanks

Just know that at some point the water line could have been higher than when you saw it first.

Next there are several places it could get in. There is a difference in what I would call "water proof" and "water tight". There are "body plugs" and that, heck it could even get in thru the ac drain tube.

Figure the water got in from the bottom.
Dry out your carpet, don't park in a local flood zone if rain is forcast - you'll be good to go
