Default Weird ticking sound when gear shifts at 50-60 Km/h

Hi guys,

I just bought my Honda Accord 2009 EX a week ago, I keep hearing a weird sound (more of a ticking sound) that happens ONLY ONCE when the car shifts gears at about 50-60 Km/h. It happens only once, meaning that the first time, after starting the engine, and when car speed exceeds 50 Km, you hear that sound... BUT if you slow down, and then accelerate again, you don't hear the sound when the car's speed exceeds 50 Km.
I took it to the dealer, a lousy technician inspected it and said that it's a normal sound caused by VSA!! I didn't really believe that guy because he sounded like non-skilled technician.

Can you please tell me what causing that weird ticking sound?.

Yes, all OEM shops seem tohave a "technician" to screen customers w/ noise problems and tell them it's completely normal. Most never come back and they take credit for "problem solved".

I would suspect an exhaust system part that is causing the sound. Once warmed past some temp, it's no longer present. The exhaust manifold heat shield, catalytic converter heat shield, and exhaust pipe connections, are likely candidates for your sound. Very difficult to fix because it will be difficult to isolate unless the sound can be produced w/ car warming on a lift.

good luck
