There is a 2006 Accord Estate with 165k miles & 2.2ctdi engine that I can get for almost free (very very little money).

Looks like top spec, with leather, Sunroof , full service history and a fresh MOT & 3 owners ,last one having had it for past 5years.



Question is, How reliable are they at this sort of milage and should you even get one?

I heard that the 2.2cdti engine in the later next generation Accord had some DPF problems or stuff like that, does this have the same stuff/issues?

What are some major problems these cars usually have that you should look out for and how good are these engines as such?

 

You should get this while it's available on such very favorably terms, and then worry about any detail maintenance issues. My '92 Accord has 273,000 miles, engine's never been openned up, and it'll still take me on long trips reliably.

Either way, along with a car you need to tax it/insure it ,drive 300miles to pick it up, if it's a dud - store it and try to sell or get rid of it, A LOT Of effort/time even if it's dirt cheap.
As much as I love hondas ( Have had 4 of them ,never an accord so far) Still want to make sure about it not to waste anyone's time as it's still an old car with high miles

Oh btw does anyone know if these 2006 facelifted ones have DPF Filters or only the next generation models have them?

 

Since you mention the cdti engine in the thread title, hopefully that'll catch the attention of UK/EU members. We don't get any of the diesel engines at all here in USA.
