bought my daughter a 99 accord, went to get emissions test light was disconnected. car failed test. code p1259 and code p1382 came up. when i drove the car and went to pass on interstate the car started bucking and tach went to zero engine came right back to rpm level for speed. if you go over 4000? it does this . drive very old woman like and runs very well with good gas milage.dude i purchased it from says it is a rev limiter from the factory? what do i need to do. also only hot air coming from the vents. none of the enviromental controls function. no blown fuse that ican find. please help if you know the problem.
P1382 indicates no signal from cylinder position sensor. This would cause operation in "limp home" mode and may cause the P1259 (vtec malfunction) code.
First check that something is not broken or disconnected at the distributor (cylinder position sensor in distributor). If everything checks OK, a new distributor housing is required to replace the sensor.
Fix cylinder position sensor, and then see if P1259 remains after resetting ECU (disconnect battery negative cable for 20 secs).
good luck

The P1259 - VTEC System Malfunction should also be addressed, as it may be due to low oil pressure. The VTEC system relies on oil pressure; so, check that the oil level is okay. The code can also be caused by the VTEC solenoid valve, VTEC oil pressure switch, wiring, connector, or ECM/PCM.
