I figured you saw '98 instead of '88 and that's why you were talknig about the trans. I never heard of any trans problems on an 88. Then again, I never hear mych about 88's at all!

My 2007 SE 4 cyl auto 104k miles. No problems so far but starter does seem slower even with battery replacement.
