Exclamation Where is my transmission range sensor?

I bought a 96 honda accord LX about a week ago, and I've been having trouble trying to start the vehicle it turns on whenever it feels like it sometimes it will only start in neutral. I believe it might be because my transmission range sensor isn't reading if the car is in park or not. If anyone can tell me what I could possibly do I would greatly appreciate it.

Not sure about the 5th gens, but if it's like the 6th gens the sensor will be on the end of the transaxle tucked behind the fenderwell splash shield. Before you condemn it though, check for continuity across the proper pins in the sensor harness connector in each of the gear selector positions. If you don't have continuity between the right pins, the sensor may be bad (open internally or in the wiring). Hope this helps and makes sense! Someone else more knowledgeable on the 5th gens pipe up for me please.

On the 5th gens, the "range" switch is in the center console....where the shift lever is.

As stated, test before just replacing parts.

Just so I'm clear, when it acts up - you turn the key to "start" and the starter does not spin the engine? When this happens, are you getting battery voltage on the small BLK/WHT wire that is connected to the starter solenoid?
