Why won't my 97 Honda Accord LX start?
Went out to start my 97 Honda Accord LX and it wont crank. It doesn't sound like anything is turning or moving, only a quite hissing noise comes from somewhere around the engine when the key turned.
I pulled out the spark plug shafts and touched the leads to metal hoping I would get a spark, but alas, there is none.
Stupid question but it's highly unlikely that all the spark plugs would go out at the same time, right?

Auto or Manual? Auto
Is the "hissing" noise from the starter? IDK, it's coming from somewere around the engine and it only lasts about 2 seconds after you turn the key.
Battery terminals are clean and tight.....what happens if you try to jump start it? Nothing. Same result.
Do you have a volt meter? Yes, but I don't know exactly how to use it.

How about these questions:
when was the last time you could start the car successfully?
when was the last time you replaced the car battery?
how cold is it where you are?
Btw, I don't have a volt meter but I imagine that you would use it exactly as you would a jump starter... just connect the +'s and the -'s. Youtube has a whole bunch of videos on how to use it, of course.

Get the volt meter to read voltage....test it by putting it to the battery
While doing that you should read ~12.5 volts on the battery.
What you want to do next is put the pos end of the meter to the small wire on the starter, have someone try to start the car - what voltage reading do you get?
