Is it worth it? Vtech solenoid
I have a 2003 Accord Coupe LX (2.4 L). I am the sole owner of the vehicle and have 150K miles. It's a great car really no true problems. Given the age and mileage on the car is it worth having the following items repaired/fixed:
- V Tech Solenoid
- Oil Pan Gasket
- Valve Cover Gasket
Sure, if you like the car, and it's as good as you say, those are OK repairs. Are they actually needed? Or has someone just told you to do those things without actually looking at the car?
- How is the corrosion? Is it getting rusty to the point where mechanical repair is futile?
- Any other problems? Does it run really well?
- Are you looking for an "excuse" to buy a new(er) car?

Totally agree with Jim.
To add to what Jim asked.....My question is this, same as his just a different way of asking it. Is someone chasing an oil leak that they are not really sure where it is coming from?
IMHO, vtec solenoids do not fail very often - I'd call it rare that the do. However they will leak from the o-ring gasket....which allows oil to drip down which could make it "look" like the valve cover and oil pan gasket are also leaking....again, just my opinion.
