Default Catalytic Converter for '00 Accord

I have a 2000 Honda Accord LX sedan that needs a new catalytic converter. The cat converter costs around $1100. Is there anywhere I can get one cheaper than this. The guy in the parts dept. said it costs so much because I have an Ultra Low Emissions Vehicle.

You did enough research to prove that you need to replace your cat? You can try some junkyards with trashed accords that you can take the cats from. If by any chance you live in NY go to the Shea Stadium junkyard.

Or if you want, put an aftermarket cat on, but you might get a check engine code, P0420.

Yeah a Honda service tech said I needed one. I could hear a rattling sound when I decelerated. I took it to the Honda dealer and they said the catcon was bad. I'll try to look around for a used one.

Yeah because the rattling doesn't start until the car heats up.
