catalytic converter yea or nay

Default catalytic converter yea or nay

i have a 95 ex accord 5 speed i wanna cut my catalytic converter off and run str8 2.5 exhaust to a muffler
and i wanted to know the pros and cons of doing this some say i wont pass emission but in NY they are getting rid of that test and only doing safety inspection

Pros: are slightly more power, and maybe better sound.

Cons: You car will smell, its a federal crime, might not pass inspection(even safety they might look).

If its just a daily driver with slight modifications its probably not worth it. If its a highly modified drag car, then it may be worth it.

Agreed with live2rice for sure... Since the government eliminated o2 simulators, the want to cut catalytic converters off has kind of come to a halt... There is a small gain in power, but are you running a factory manifold??? If so all that piping will only help as much as your header will allow, your exhaust only flows as fast as its smallest point. IMO keep the cat, if not to be a little more eco friendly, but so that you will not be throwing a check engine light, which you should know is an automatic fail on almost every single state issued check.
