Question Exhaust question.

So I found this -->"http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/4-N1-Stainless-Steel-2-25-Inlet-Catback-Exhaust-System-/280627458758?pt=Motors_Car_Truck_Parts_Accessories &fits=Make:Honda|Model:Accord|Year:2000&hash=item4 156b332c6#ht_4611wt_1194" exhaust kit.

I want to know if the HP gain it will give is noticeable and if its a good setup.

my car is a honda accord "obviously" 2000 special edition.

I'd generally try to stay away from the no name brand ebay exhausts. Most of them(as reflected in the price) are made out of the cheapest materials for as cheap as possible. So a lot of times you will run into fitment issues and failure issues. But even a higher end exhaust won't net you a huge amount of HP. Modifications like that add more power the more tuned your engine is, so I would expect a 10-15hp increase from a high end exhaust.

I would expect to pay $250-300 minimum for a good setup. With the higher end ones being in the $500-700 range.

Also, in the picture of that exhaust it did look very cheap and not well done that is the reason why I posted here mainly.

A cold air intake is a cheaper alternative with the high end ones being in the $150-300 range. But as far as hp goes you are looking at probably 5-7hp increase, which isnt really noticeable. It does add some spice to your engine bay and as well as a nice sound.

I am late here , but I am looking for a ss cat-back exh. sys. of top grade for 96 V6. I have looked at piles, but nothing really seems acceptable. (Yes, I checked out some of our advertizers.) Any suggestions for a supplier?

So I'm guilty of buying stuff on eBay. Of course you pay for what you get but sometimes paying a little less will get the job done. I decided to buy an ebay exhaust kit. It needed better sealing on the gaskets is all. I have to go through and put some gasket sealer on it but so far its been doing pretty well. The only issue that reflected its price, beside the gaskets, is the way it fit in. I had to really work at it to get everything onto the hangers. So the metal is bent rather cheaply, not exactly to the fit of the car but this exhaust has made it through one winter in NYS with all that salt and has held up very well. There are rust patches but no real damage.
So from what I've been through, if you have the money, go more expensive, if you're just buying something to mess around your car with, experiment then going a little cheaper is fine as long as you know how to maintain it.
With CAIs- I made my own with a K&N filter under the bumper. Ill be buying some aluminum piping and making a good one- trying some heat blocking paint to see what that does.

In my opinion, its all about what you're doing. I'm messing around with things, trying to find out for myself what methods are inexpensive but effective.

My friend bought a cheaper set of headers on ebay. Abotu 70$ I think he said. They work great but he had to re-weld a bad welding job on them that cracked in a week. (Keep in mind he drives his honda like a mad man.) That wasnt really a problem since he works in a mechanics shop with all the tools to do anything you want really. If you cant weld or dont have friends that will weld for you, you would probably end up spending money on the welding job that most likely will happen, depending on how much pressure you put on your engine, and the exhaust combined that could have just been spent on a better system anyway.
