Default Just bought my SRI...question about filter

I just bought this SRI kit on ebay (budget). Will the filter it came with be okay to use until I am able to get a K&N or AEM filter? ...it can't be worse than the box filter that came on the car...

its fine to use, but you will get much better performance with a AEM or K&N one

Alright thanks. I will eventually get a better brand filter, just making sure it will be okay with the one it came with.

I would never trust those cheapfilters. I threw mine away immediately and put an AEM on mine. Oh well, it's your engine, not mine...

Took the words out of my mouth.

I wouldnt even start my car with one of those ebay filters. You can probably see through the gauze.
By using a crap filter, instead of spending $40-50 you could be shortening you engine life. Which do you think will cost more in the long run?

If your engine compartment doesnt have a lot of dirt, dust, and debris floating around in it........I think you'll be fine til you get a good filter. It may be cheap, and I wouldnt use it long either. But lets face it, even if you could see through the gauze(which is just silly) there would need to be dirt available forthe intake to just suck up, for meto not want to even start it with that filter on. Obviously if you're drivin round in dusty/dirty/salty conditions, "see-through" gauze isn't right, lol. But yah, i'd say you'll be fine for a lil bit. Id suggest an AEM Dryflow. No oiling .
